Uruguay is a small country in South America located between Argentina and Brazil. Most visitors to South America tend to overlook this country in favor of its most well known neighbors. However, nowadays Uruguay is on the radar of high end tourists who come to frolic on the numerous resorts situated on the Uruguayan Riviera. The most famous of these resorts is the Punta del Este located on a peninsula between the Atlantic Ocean and the Rio de Plata.

The resort of Altádina and Piriáplos are some of the other popular but the most glamorous and exciting of course is Punta located at a distance of 140 kms from the nation’s capital Montevideo. Visitors to Uruguay enjoy this vibrant city of Montevideo with its many excellent restaurants of Mercato Del Puerto, its handicraft market of Mercados de los Artesanos where they can buy leather goods and hand knitted sweaters amongst other local handicrafts. Uruguay with its relatively stable political climate and prosperity is the hidden gem of the South American Continent.
