Torquay is situated on the South Devon coastline and is one of the three towns that make up the English Riviera. The town is a vibrant and forward thinking resort that was used as far back as the Victorian period which where the name Riviera first came from.
With the Victorian white villas situated on the mountain top and down the main streets, you will get a taste of the old and new. The town is a tourist magnet with its art and culture centres, marine life, the famous seven hills that provide you with a jaw dropping backdrop on the towns waterfront and the bays 22 miles of coastline.
Along the 22 mile stretch of coastline are a total of 19 beaches, some of which have superb cleanliness and stunning views to be seen in every direction. With opportunities to go surfing, swimming, diving and experience the natural beauty in the surrounding areas, there is something for every kind of traveller.
Torquay is fantastic base to start your exploring and visiting other places such as Dartmouth, Exeter and Plymouth which are all only a few miles away. Then the English Riviera's two other towns are Paignton and Brixham that make up the Torbay.
