Bourton-on-the-Water is an exceptionally beautiful town that is only 4 miles away from the town of Stow-on-the-Wold and is one of the few areas that as a architectural style of its own. With the river Windrush passing beneath the low bridges within the town centre, it can become a delightful little place to visit.
It is often been rated as one of the prettiest towns in England, with its array of houses and cottages been built exclusively from the yellow Cotswold stone that fill up the narrow streets of this quaint little town, it gives you a feeling of how the people used to live over 300 years ago when these cottages were built.
The town of Bourton-on-the-Water also as a series of attractions for the traveller who needs to see more that just its historical importance, some of which are the model railway and village, perfume exhibition and motor museum. It also holds an annual water football match each year in the River Windrush which dates back to the 1800s and is held on the August bank holiday Monday.
