Published by jacko77 on Mon Jun 29th, 2009
Tarutao National Park is located close to the border of Thailand and Malaysia. It consists of 51 islands which is located between 20 and 70 kilometres away from the mainland.
The largest island is the Koh Tarutao and is around 10 kilometres wide and close to 26 kilometres long. Koh Tarutao has fantastic mountain views, rain forests and mangrove swamps. So if you like the sound of going on a long trek and exploring what the island has to offer, then you can make a full day of it. You will also come across a few unspoiled beaches and caves.
The islands that make up the Tarutao Natinal Marine Park consist of Koh Lipe, Koh Adang and Koh Dong, these are just a few to name of the 51 islands, the largest of these islands is the Koh Adang and is completely covered in rain forest, during the rainy season there will be several rain falls which will flow into the sea
Koh Lipe and its neighbouring islands are surrounded with crystal clear waters and is home to a variety of marine life and living corals, this makes it a great destination to explore for anyone keen on taking a diving expedition.
Some of the marine life that you will come across, include dolphins, manta rays, sperm whales and plenty of reef fish such as clown fish and lion fish.
