Similan Islands in Thailand

Similan Islands are located around 52 miles north west of the bustling crowds of Phukets Patong Beach.  The group of Similan Islands are one of the best known diving sites, because of the clear waters that it offers and what wonders are waiting beneath.  It has often been categorised as one of the top 10 diving sites around the world.

The islands themselves have low-lying formations which is covered with a thick forest.  Among the larger trees are the ironwood and gum-trees, while the jackfruit and bamboo create part of the dense undergrowth.   The Similan Islands are also home to a variety animals, including the crab-eating monkeys, bats, lizards and birds.  Though you will be one of the lucky ones if you get to see the monkeys because of their shy personality. 

However one of the most striking features of the islands are the huge boulders that surround the western and southern areas over several different islands. 

The shores of the islands are often covered with white coral sand beaches which are often deserted, but the most amazing views are to be found beneath the crystal clear waters.  Here you will find some of the most spectacular coral growths in the world.  The Similan Islands are one of the hottest diving sites in the world and is just an adventure playground.
