Chiang Mai The Modern City

Chiang Mai is the second largest city in Thailand and one of the most popular tourist destinations in the northern area Thailand.  One of the main attractions that bring tourists to the city of Chiang Mai is the hilltribes and elephant tours.  It is also a city that is still rich in culture and history, which is evident by the architecture amongst this modern day city. 

This as a fantastic base for which to go trekking into the surrounding highlands and visit many of the hilltribe villages.   With the cities great infrastructure it as become one of the major tourist destinations in Thailand, which include great accommodation for the keen traveller.

The true seen of Chiang Mai will come more clear at the start of the winter season or when it is the end of the hot season, because of Chiang Mai's fantastic location you will get see the mountains that surround the city in the north, east and west which are surrounding the rice fields that gets drained with the Ping River.  Then the western side of the city in covered in trees, which makes this an amazing and magical city.
