Chinatown Sights And Smells
Published by jacko77 on Tue Jul 7th, 2009

Chinatown in Bangkok is one of the oldest districts in the city and as been around since the early 1780's.  It is one of the must see sites to have on your visitor list, with its vivid colors, sights and smells, tiny streets and alleys you will not find many other places in Bangkok that will match Chinatown's atmosphere.

It is probably one of the least visited tourist attractions in Bangkok but with its narrow lanes, hustle and bustle of hundreds of deliveries being made every day by hand cart to the small shops and the smell of Chinese and Thai food wafting through the air.   This is what sets the scene when spending a morning or afternoon in Chinatown.

With all the buying and selling of both goods and Thai Food, you will have done a great job if you can survive the day without being tempted to walk into one of the many restaurants and have a meal.

It is an area to explore by foot and get to see the amazing architecture, temples, shops and taste its weird food.  The district can easily be reached via a river taxi to stop 5 from the Ratchawongse Pier on the Chao Phraya River.
