Chiang Dao Caves in Chiang Mai
Published by jacko77 on Thu Jul 2nd, 2009

Chiang Dao Caves which is located 70km north of Chiang Mai extends as much 12km around the mountain of Doi Chiang Dao, there is only 5 safe entrances which to gain access to the cave.

The Chiang Dao Cave as many crystal formations which gives the cave more character and a reason to go and explore.   These crystal formations have been created by the dripping waters.  There is periods of the year when the caves can get really humid, but of the time it is nice and cool.

The two main entrances to the cave are Tham Phra Non and Tham Seua Dao which have been fitted with a lighting system and can be explored without the need of a tour guide.  As you go through the cave you will come across Budda images and amazing rock formations.

If you would like to go further than Tham Phra Non it is recommended that you hire a guide, because this is where the installed electrical lights come to an end and the guide costs around 100 Baht.  To enter the cave without the need of guide costs around 10Baht.
