Carnivals Of Seville
Published by jacko77 on Mon Oct 5th, 2009

Seville comes alive with 2 major carnivals during the spring where the city bursts into bloom and everyone is in their best of humour as the city's two greatest festivals come into play during this time of year.  With the first carnival being the Semanta Santa which takes place two weeks before the Seville Fair also known as the “Real de la Feria” that happens on the last week of April.

With the Seville Fair covering an area of 1.2 million square metres and a week of dancing, drinking and enjoying the entertainment with the late nights or in a lot of cases all nighters.   The fair covers 3 areas which are for parking, the amusement park and a vast area for the main attraction which are the casetas.

The casetas are the tent pavilions which are laid out in rows down the streets for the fairground.  This is where the drinks and tapas start to flow from and are each equipped with their own full bar and live entertainment with their own Seville style music, which is the dancing ground for everyone wanting to get set for the all week long of Seville folk dancing.

The size of the April Fair is spectacular with its extraordinary atmosphere, spontaneity, dancing and musical talent you will just want to become part of this local tradition and make the most of this one week event.

With the Sevilla society parades starting from around midday until early hours of the evening going around the fair in their traditional costumes.  The parades are full of extravagant display and dress style with bullfights happening on a daily basis and have been said to be the best of the season

The Seville fair carnival will usually start on a Saturday and run until midnight of the following Sunday.
