Best Time To Go
Being high up it gets really cold in the months of July-August which can reach -25C.  February is a good time to go because of the festivals and the first week of November but can get crowded.

Puno on the Lake Titicaca
Published by jacko77 on Mon Aug 3rd, 2009

The town of Puno is located to the north west shore of the Lake Titicaca at an altitude close to 4000m and is considered to be one of the most important folk capitals around the shores of Lake Titicaca because of its 300 typical dances.

Some dances such as the Sikuri and Diablada are only performed during the festivals such as the Virgen de la Canelaria which is held in the month of February.

As well as having dance traditions it is also a fantastic place to visit for its handicraft work such as those amazing alpaca jumpers and hats which is often seen on the local Peruvian people in the cooler seasons of the year.

It also has a rich tradition of music styles which can be seen a lot during the festival season, you will also have a chance to see the temple sculpted in stone and see a town that was home to the Tiahuanco culture many thousands years ago.

Even though its not one of the most beautiful towns itself to see, it certainly as amazing scenery, a rich legacy of culture and beautiful landscapes which makes Puno well worth a visit for a few days.
