Lake of Lugano Italy
Published by jacko77 on Mon Nov 2nd, 2009
Lake of Lugano is located right next to the Swiss-Italian border in between Lake Maggiore and Lake Como and as been named after the largest city on the shores. The lake is still unspoilt with the lush surroundings, breath taking views and fresh air surrounded by the valleys of Val Rezzo, Val Menaggio and Val Cavargna.
There is a rich and abundance of vegetation surrounding the lakes, some of which include milk, cheese with even palm and fig trees that there is proof that even the nature of this area is kind to the local people.
Even the main valleys around the bustling town of Lugano are well populated and you will be very surprised how quick you will want to leave the main towns behind and explore the lakes more secluded villages that are nested within the large forests where time seems to have come to a total stop.
Lake Lugano is also another hotspot for the sporting enthusiasts because of it's mild climate, clean water and mountains. Some of the best activities available in Lake Lugano are mountain biking, tennis and water sports and because of it's all year round great weather there is always something to do no matter what season you go in.
One of the best mountain bike trails is that in the Alto Vedeggio area, which as been used by world class mountain bikers, but trails have been set-up for the less experienced biker. Another great sport is hiking and the most popular route to try out is that from Monte Tamaro to Monte Lema which is in between the borders of Italy and Ticino and gives you a great taste of the Swiss Pre-Alps.
There is something for everyone of all ages with the south of the lake having spectacular views and to the north your will have Lake Maggiore, Valle Maggia, Centovally and Locarno which as fantastic mountain drop scenery.
