Lake Maggiore Italy

Lake Maggiore in Italy is the second largest lake in the Italian lakes measuring around 65 km is term lengths and its only Lake Garda that is larger and has been said to be the most beautiful out of all the lakes but as been over shadowed by its more famous sister of Lake Como. It is surrounded by rich history, amazing scenery and full of interesting villages.
One of the must do attractions around Lake Maggiore is to visit the cluster of islands known as the Borromeo Islands – Isola Bella, Isola Madre and Isola Pescatore. The Isola Bella is one must visit island with its amazing palace and gardens.
Lake Maggiore becomes a ski-paradise in the winter months and with it's amazing scenery and hot location for the snowboarding or skiing enthusiast, however if your not the adrenaline junkie type and prefer to have your feet firmly on the ground then Lake Maggiore as plenty on offer ranging from horseback riding, cycling, mountain biking and off road trekking.
Trekkers and mountain bikers will delight in the surrounding green hills that that are next to the amazing peaks that are over 3500m above the sea level. There is plenty of paths to go that are considered to be easy and relaxing but for the more serious type of trekker who want more of a challenge then there is also plenty of routes with vertical drops and rocky slopes.
