Borromean Islands Of Lake Maggiore

Borromean Islands is one of the main attractions on Lake Maggiore in north Italy, which are 3 islands near the town of Stresa which provides the ferry service to the islands, the most popular and visited island out of the 3 is Isloa Bella which is almost totally covered by the grand palace that was built in the early 1600's by some of the best architects in that era which was the idea of Carlo III Barromeo who totally redesigned the rock landscape.

The soil was brought across from the mainland to prepare the build of the palace and statues, with the plantation of lemon and orange trees as well as magnolias.  Today the palace as many rooms that are rich in art, furniture and historical meaning.  With the underground room giving you the reflection of time by it's artificial caves and walls being dressed with tuffs surrounded by mirrors of black marble.

The ferries will then move on to Isola Madre which is larger than Isloa Bella and is less visited, but is still worth a visit because of it's banana plants, lush gardens, colony of parrots and the collection of eighteenth century puppets.

Isloa dei Pescatori is the least visited island of the 3 because there is no sights to see as such, but still as a relaxing charm about it and a great stop for a bite to eat because of it's selection of restaurants or relaxing picnic while taking in the surrounding views of the island.
