The city of Trieste lies in the north east of Italy on the edge of the border between Slovenia and Adriatic Sea. Trieste is one of the most delightful cities in Italy with it's surrounding white cliffs of limestone facing the Adriatic Sea.
Trieste as fantastic panorama views from its hilltop location and is one of Italy's most fascinating and unique cities with a great atmosphere about it, but is often overlooked by the more popular destinations such as Venice.
However it still has many attractions worth visiting, quality museums and numerous amount of coffee shops. The city is also great base for exploration and going beyond the city itself into the mountains where you will come across some of the best scenery the surrounding areas have to offer, with the world's largest cave known as the Grotta Gigante Cave right on it's door step, it is one reason to visit Trieste.
