Venice Carnivals, Festivals and Mardi Gras

The Venice Carnival is one of the most exciting and boisterous parties that happens on planet earth, with its lavish parades, masquerade balls and spontaneous parties that happen all over the streets of Venice for almost 2 weeks.

With the costumes and masks abounding throughout the Carnival, it is not always the make and fabric of the masks but the invisibility that it gives the wearer.  With your mask on, you will get forgiven for all you sins and anything goes.

During the time of the Venice Carnival it becomes an electrical and exciting atmosphere, if you stand around long enough in one area a party will start, with roving bands setting up next to a free table of food and drink, within in no time there will be party goers in masks and capes surrounding you.  With the mountain drops in the background it gives the festivities a majestic feeling, but with the backdrops being a mere taste of the festival that is unfolding throughout the week.

With the intense crowds and electrical atmosphere, you wonder after the third or fourth day how much longer can it continue everyday, until early hours of the night.  But with the enthusiasm and excitement giving the revellers a boost in energy, the carnival will start to get more energetic after each passing day and will grow at extraordinary rates until the great bells of San Francesco della Vigna signal the day of Ash Wednesday which will signal the end of the street partying.
