Honduras

The original banana republic
This is the second largest country in Central America and is referred to as a ‘Banana Republic’ as the fruit along with coffee constitutes its chief export .
The country has colonial villages, Mayan ruins and the scenic Bay islands with their white sand beaches, cerulean waters and reefs which are ideal for scuba diving and snorkeling. The climate in Honduras is largely warm all year around in the coastal areas though it does get cool and rainy on the mountains located in the interior. Like other countries in the Caribbean Honduras has a hurricane season as well.
There is much to see in this country which has much natural beauty in the form of simmering sand beaches, crystalline waters, virgin forests teeming with wildlife and National Parks. One of these National parks is the Parque Nacional La Tigra located in the cloud forest of La Tigra. This park is a nature lover’s delight as it is home to a wide variety of wildlife such as pumas, armadillos and 350 species of birds. Honduras is a relatively inexpensive holiday destination and an undiscovered gem of Central America.
