La Fortuna Costa Rica

The of town La Fortuna in Costa Rica is dominated by the amazing views of the Volcan Arenal which is only around 6km away.  La Fortuna is booming with tour buses flying through town.  Even though there is nothing of any specific interest to see, it as a laid back atmosphere about it and locals who have a welcoming personality.

There is plenty of tour operators in town and tourists like to go and compare prices while taking notice of the amazing views of the volcano in front of them.  The weather can tend to get pretty humid here so its always advisable to have drink on you at all times.

With a height of 1633m the volcano seems to look as if it is hovering above the town of La Fortuna and with the oozing of lava flowing down the volcano it gives you amazing views of what this town is known for.

The locals estimate that only a few visitors ever get to see the summit because of the clouds covering the top of the volcano, but even if you don't get to see the lava oozing down the volcano, you will certainly hear the rumbling and splattering from the distance.

To the west of La Fortuna is great places to visit for a variety of outdoor activities weather it be hiking the trails, experiencing the hot springs of Tabacon or going on a fishing trip.
