Rincon de la Vieja National Park

Rincon de la Vieja National Park is covered with lush green forest and provides a safe haven for the host of flora and fauna the park as to offer the keen adventurer.  With the dry season on the pacific side being between the months of February to April, this makes it a ideal time for visitors to explore the higher elevations.

The trails stem from the Santa Maria ranger station and covering around 5,000 vertical feet.  You will come across a sulphuric hot spring 2.9km up the trail from the rangers station which gives you the opportunity to relax in its naturally heated pools.

Also not to far from the hot spring are waterfalls which has perfect swimming conditions.  You will also get to experience bubbling pools of mud which you will experience some of Rincon de La Vieja’s most powerful forces at work.

For the more fearless trekker, you will have the chance to hike to the volcanos and test out your strength and stamina on these rigorous trails.  You will get to see the several life zones and ecosystems as you climb higher into the mountain range.

To climb the volcano summit, you will start your trek from Las Pailas and if your lucky enough to get a clear day you will get to see the uninhabited view of endless plantation and shimmering beaches on both coasts    The dry season is the best time to go and attempt the hike because you get a better chance for the clear view skies.  This is between the months of  November and April.
